Health department and AAA7 to host senior health fair A health fair event designed especially for seniors will be held at the library beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 3. This “Welcome Spring” event, organized by the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) and the Gallia County Health Department and co-sponsored by the library, will feature information on vaccines, health screenings and select vaccinations for adults, as well as a falls prevention wellness program demonstration. Adults who receive a flu or COVID -19 vaccination will receive a gift card incentive, and those in attendance will also receive a spring-themed take-home craft kit provided by the library. During the event, the library will also showcase its many programs and services. This event is funded by the U.S. Administration for Community Living through a grant awarded by USAging. James Morrison, retired financial planner, will begin a series of retirement planning workshops beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 at the library, followed by workshops on Thursdays, April 10 and 17. Morrison, a U.S. Navy veteran who holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Ohio University, served clients in the region as an advisor and financial planner for over 35 years before his retirement in 2020. During this workshop series, Morrison will discuss saving for retirement, timing your retirement, and answer questions related to Social Security, health insurance, and Medicare, and many other topics. Attend our home inspections event If you are planning to sell or purchase a house, be sure to join us for a Home Inspections 101 program beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 6 in the library’s Switzer Room. Chris Farver, CEO and owner of Tri-State Smart Home Solutions, LLC, will be on hand to discuss the value of home inspections before selling or purchasing a home. Farver will discuss who should get a home inspection, what is considered during the home inspection process, the most common deficiencies found in houses during inspections, as well as what can be done with the information gleaned from a home inspection. StoryWalk at the French Art Colony The StoryWalk title for April is I’m Not Missing by Kashelle Gourley and Kylar Hogan. StoryWalk is located on the grounds of the French Art Colony, 530 First Avenue. StoryWalk is a great way for both children and adults to enjoy the great outdoors and great children’s books!
