StoryWalk at the French Art Colony The StoryWalk title for September is When the Sky Glows by Nell Cross Beckerman with illustrations by David Litchfield. StoryWalk is located on the grounds of the French Art Colony, 530 First Avenue. StoryWalk is a great way for both children and adults to enjoy the great outdoors and great children’s books! Bossard’s Book Clubs to meet at Renaissance Faire Bossard Library’s Tween and Adult Book Clubs will meet at the first annual Rio Renaissance Faire on Saturday, Sept. 28. The faire will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the trailhead for the Gatewood Trail System, 10 Bevo Francis Way, Rio Grande. Tween Book Club members are encouraged to RSVP to Rachael prior to the event by calling 740.446.7323 x 226. A permission form and liability waiver are required for attendance. For free admission, Tween Book Club members should check-in at the main gate between 11 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Tweens are encouraged to read Storm Dragons: Lightningborn by Julie Kagawa for the September meeting. This middle grade fantasy novel follows a young boy named Remy who finds a wild baby dragon. The Adult Book Club will also meet at the Rio Renaissance Faire. For free admission, Adult Book Club members should check in between 11 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. After check in, Adult Book Club members should make their way to the library’s booth where they will discuss The Falcon Always Wings Twice by Donna Andrews. A book in Andrews’ long-running Meg Lanslow Mystery series, this novel follows Meg as her grandmother hosts a Renaissance Faire where Meg has to investigate a murder. Copies of both the Tween and Adult Book Clubs’ selected books can be borrowed from the library. Library prepares for ‘Animal Inside Out’ As library staff prepare for the upcoming “Animal Inside Out” exhibit, which opens to the public on Sept. 28, library patrons should note that some library programs may change locations and/or dates and times to accommodate this large exhibit, which will be on display at the library through Jan. 4, 2025. Beginning on Monday, Sept. 16, weekly Yoga sessions will be held each Monday evening beginning at 6 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Gallipolis. Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 17, storytime will typically be held each week on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Gallipolis First Church of God through Jan. 7. Special storytime events will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, Monday, Oct. 21, Monday, Nov. 18, and Monday, Dec. 16 at the Gallia Academy High School library. Beginning on Thursday, Sept.19, lapsit will be held beginning at 10 a.m. each Thursday morning at the Gallipolis First Church of God through Thursday, Jan. 9. Trivia Night will be held at the Colony Club in Gallipolis beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Trivia Night will also be held at this location in November and December. Adult coloring and Adult Book Club will both be held on Saturday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, at the Gallipolis Municipal Building. Adult coloring will also be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30 at the municipal building. Bossard Library’s Game Day Saturdays, French City Writers’ Guild, and Needlework Circle will continue to meet at the library.
